dehloran

Dehloran, as the largest city in Ilam Province, is located in the southwest of the province with a long history.

This city has the longest border between Ilam province and Iraq and is the most populous city after the provincial capital. The main population of the city is composed of Lors and Kurds, with a small population of Laks and Arabs. The main language of the city’s people is Lor and Kurdish, and their religion is Shiite. Four urban districts, Dehloran, Wasian, Pahle and Meimeh, constitute the districts of this border city.

This city, which occupies more than one-third of the province’s area, is located 230 kilometers from Ilam city and in the southwestern part of the province between the cities of Mehran, Malekshahi, and Abdanan, and borders Iraq to the south and west.

Dehloran is a tropical city in the west of the country. Its air temperature is very hot in summer and late spring, but in winter and early April, it has a pleasant climate for tourists and travelers. The Dehloran oil field, 22 kilometers southwest of this city, affects the main part of the industry and economy of the region. The amount of oil in this oil field is so much that in some places it boils and flows from the ground like natural springs. The Dehloran bitumen spring is an example of this phenomenon. In addition, most of the people in the region are engaged in keeping and raising livestock and farming, but the excessive heat of the air, especially in summer, has prevented the development of agriculture in this region. Alikesh Hill, Shiag Castle, the ancient hills of Musian, and the Meimeh inscriptions are among the ancient attractions of this ancient city.

The hot and sulfur springs of Dehloran, with their therapeutic properties, are among the most important natural attractions of this city, located three kilometers from the city, on the slopes of Siahkooh and near the Bat Cave. In addition, the bitumen spring and natural waterfalls around the city are other natural attractions of this tropical region that attract travelers. The hot and sulfur springs of Dehloran, with their therapeutic properties, are among the most important natural attractions of this city, located three kilometers from the city, on the slopes of Siahkooh and near the Bat Cave. Chighbafi, a type of woven straw mat, is a unique handicraft of Dehloran city and Ilam province that forms the walls of the tents of the province’s nomads. Weaving various types of giveh and kilim is another handicraft that the women of the city are engaged in and export their products to Iraq in addition to the cities of the province. Anbarbu rice, mountain pistachios (baneh), various types of local breads and sweets, beji barsaq, kale kenji, sholeh kineh, and bagel halva are some of the foods that tourists prepare as a souvenir when traveling to Dehloran.
